 All:

First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Saki Nakamura, a first-year student at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, International Christian University, and I belong to TEDxICU. Thank you for your time today.

My name is Kotomi Akutsu, also a first year student. Thank you.

This is Jinka Woodhams, who is also a first year student. Thank you.

My name is Arita and I am in charge of personnel, recruitment and organizational development management at en world Japan. thank you.

Let's get into the discussion right away. First of all, please tell us why enworld Japan co-sponsored TEDxICU.

It all started when I received an inquiry from Mr. Nakamura. From there, I learned that the theme of this event is "Bloom", and the message that "each person's dreams and individuality will blossom and bloom together" is our mission, and we hope that those who wish to change jobs will achieve their goals and careers. I thought that there is a part in common with the idea of "active after joining the company" aiming for the success of the company. Also, as a person in charge of recruiting personnel, I was interested in what students think about when they go out into society, so I decided to support this event.

Thank you very much. I would like to know a little more about the "success after joining the company" that you mentioned earlier.

Our business is specializing in career change support for global human resources and mid-career recruitment support for companies. I think that the goal of so-called job change activities and mid-career recruitment is to change jobs or hire new employees, but en world Japan's "success after joining the company" is the "start." line”. The reason why it is the “start line” is that we support career development from a long-term perspective even after changing jobs by facing the question of what kind of career a person who wants to change their job essentially wants to form. This is because we think that we would like to do so. Also, for companies that hire human resources, I think that the purpose is not to end with hiring, but to have them play an active role after joining the company. , I regard joining the company as the "starting line".

Another thing is that even for employees working at en world Japan, the idea of "playing an active role after joining the company" is included in the way that people who have joined the company face how they can play an active role after joining the company. is included.

That's right! Then, I would like to know if there is anything you are specifically doing to realize “active after joining the company”.

First of all, we will carefully listen to the person who wishes to change jobs, what kind of job they are thinking of, what kind of career they want to draw after that, and what kind of hope they have. We value the background and story that each individual has, such as why they want to change jobs and what they want to do after that. I'm here. After you actually join the company, we will send you a questionnaire every month for a year, asking if you have gotten used to the new job, if you have any troubles, if you have any worries, etc. We support accordingly.

It means that you value learning about the person through dialogue, not just the information on their resume.

Yes, That's right.

ICU is also a school that emphasizes dialogue, and there are many classes that focus on dialogue. In addition, ICU students have strengths in English, cultivate critical thinking and logical thinking in a liberal arts education, and have a lot of dialogue. What kind of possibilities do you see in such ICU students?

I think that even among people who have spent university life in Japan, ICU students have different values and sensibilities during their four years at university, depending on the education they receive and the environment they receive. Of course it is good to demonstrate your potential in Japan, but I think that everyone has different possibilities, and I think that it includes not only language but also the way of thinking itself. I would like to expect everyone to see how much they can broaden their horizons, instead of limiting their possibilities to their current world view. I think it would be nice to see more people taking on challenges that no one has ever experienced before.

(I visited the office of en world Japan!)

You talked about changing jobs earlier, but it used to be natural for people to continue working at the same company, but I think that the way people think about changing jobs has changed recently. Are the number of people changing jobs or thinking about changing jobs increasing?

Compared to the past, the number of people who change jobs is increasing, but it is said that Japanese people change jobs less frequently during their business lives than Westerners. I'm not saying that you should change jobs a lot, but I think the difference is how much you understand your job and whether you are clear about what you want next. Masu.

Why is there a difference in the number of job changes?

First, there is a fundamentally different way of thinking about work. In fact, I think there is an aspect that you have to work to make a living, but I think there are many people in Japan whose work is at the center of their lives. However, I feel that people in the West put themselves and their families first and their work second, but there is a difference in their priorities. Work is just a part of one's life, nothing more, nothing less, which is overwhelmingly different from Japan. I think there are many people in Japan who have no choice but to be cautious about making decisions about things that are central to their lives.

I think many people have thought various things about their work style due to the corona misfortune. And I wonder if there will be more people who actually put what they thought into action in the future. The goal of our event this time is to focus on that, and we will hold an event with the theme of "Bloom" as a place to share ideas that have been suppressed due to the corona disaster and ideas that we have come up with ourselves. I think you talked about it at the beginning of the interview, but is there anything you keep in mind or feel is important in order to encourage people to blossom in new places?

there is. For example, I think getting information has become a lot easier in the last few years. This should be the same for students and those who want to change jobs. However, there are many people who do not realize that there is too much information and they are not able to organize what they really need, or that they are misled by the information that flows regardless of their intentions. think. First, it's important to understand the right information in the right format. The final decision is made not by us, but by the person himself/herself, so we are conscious of organizing what the people who want to change jobs think as accurately as possible.

I think that there are many people who suffer from their own feelings being shaken even among university students. I think there are a lot of students, myself included, who are struggling especially at a university like ICU, where students decide their major after entering university. In the case of changing jobs, enworld Japan provides support, but in the case of students like us, I think we need to have the ability to self-discipline to some extent. Is there anything you are conscious of in

Output it regularly. For example, one way is to output to others what Mr. Woodhams is thinking and thinking at the moment. It is recommended to leave it in writing. The medium can be anything, such as Instagram or note. If my thoughts and intentions remain in a form, I can return to them after some time has passed. I am thinking.

I see. thank you! Last but not least, I would like to ask you to leave a message for the event.

As for what you can gain in your university life, I think that knowledge through study is of course important, but at the same or more than that, sharing the same time and place with people who grew up in a different environment than you. I think that it is to make new discoveries, learn, and realize there. If you are your age, the novel coronavirus has been prevalent since you entered university, so compared to before, the total number of spontaneous encounters and discoveries may be small. There is a big difference in the experience gained in university life between those who think that it can't be helped because of the corona crisis and those who think that online has become the norm due to the corona crisis and that they have the opportunity to connect with people around the world. I think it will come. Studying is important, but I want you to gain new realizations and learnings that you can't get by studying, by communicating with various people. In order to find out what is really important to you, I would like you to find it by talking to people and outputting.

Thank you! That's all for the interview.

Thank you very much!
